What's the difference between plain thinking and thinking like an academic? <BR/><BR/>I didn't escape to the hills to stop thinking. I didn't burn my books before I left (although the airline company made it difficult to take more than a few kilos with me). <BR/><BR/>I left academia though partly to get away from the professional obligation (as it seemed to me) to be nasty to other people (to be better than them - to put them down - to trample on them as one struggled towards that professorship) to get away from the theatre of the prima donna.<BR/><BR/>Thinking though is okay. I like thinking.
